Soffban Natural Sterile is an individually sterile-packed orthopaedic undercast padding from Multigate, supplied as a single roll (each). It is the sterile equivalent of the Soffban Natural non-sterile range, intended for use in theatre, sterile clinical procedures, and any setting where sterile technique is required during cast or splint application.

Clinical Applications

Soffban Natural is used across a broad range of orthopaedic, wound care and community nursing applications:

• Undercast padding — primary indication; applied between skin and plaster of Paris (POP) or synthetic casting materials to protect the skin, bony prominences and neurovascular structures
• Multi-layer compression bandaging — Soffban Natural is suitable and widely used for venous leg ulcer multi-layer bandaging therapy as layer no. 1, providing the sub-compression cushioning layer prior to application of compression bandages.
• Splint padding — thermal and mechanical protection of skin and bony prominences under rigid and semi-rigid splints
• Secondary dressing padding — protective cushioning layer over primary wound dressings under outer retention or compression bandaging
• Pressure injury prevention padding — localised padding over at-risk bony prominences under long-term bandages or positioning aids
• Post-operative and trauma bandaging — rapid, conformable padding for acute injury and post-surgical limb management in community and home care follow-up

The 10cm width is the most commonly ordered size for general community nursing and wound care. The 7.5cm suits paediatric and upper limb work. The 15cm is the preferred choice for lower limb venous leg ulcer compression systems and larger orthopaedic applications.
